If you’re recently out-of-work, and motivated to do something about it, the Virginia Ready Initiative wants to help you gain necessary skills to get back to work in an in-demand job. We have partnered with the Virginia Community College System and Virginia’s FastForward Workforce Credential Grant Program to offer credentials for in-demand occupations across three broad industry categories – Technology, Healthcare, and Skilled Trades.
We focus on occupations with the most need for skilled workers, the skills that can be acquired through short-term, rigorous programs, and programs that are already part of Virginia’s FastForward Workforce Credential program offered at Community Colleges across Virginia (note that not all programs are offered at every community college).
Research your field of interest from our approved list of credential programs, speak to a FastForward Coach, research where the training program is offered closest to you, contact your selected community college, start the enrollment process – don’t forget to tell them that you want to enroll in one of VA Ready approved credential courses in FastForward.
Once you’ve enrolled in one of VA Ready’s approved credential programs at one of the VCCS member institutions across the Commonwealth with FastForward, come back to here and sign up to become a VA Ready Scholar.
What is FastForward?
FastForward is a short-term, low-cost workforce credential grant program to train Virginians for top, in-demand jobs across the Commonwealth. FastForward covers ⅔ of the cost of tuition for a wide range of credential programs offered through Virginia’s Community Colleges.
Most FastForward programs take between six and 12 weeks and are built so students can get their education quickly. FastForward helps students gain the skills they need quickly and affordably, while creating more opportunity for their future.
